Good Day, friends all over the world. The other day I took some time to create this blog so that anyone contemplating working with Bookdumpsters (Bookmasters) can sit back and consider the kind of snare one can find themselves caught into. Unfortunately for us, there isn’t much we can do to redress a dreadful situation (we will continue to link with compatible sites indefinitely). However, you can avoid our fate. Have a read and contemplate.
Be forewarned, that even with the state of the art equipment the real, live people (supposedly) working for you must have enough mindfulness to make possible and smooth the process of getting one’s book into the marketplace. This company may be able to print 1,000,000 books in 10 languages in under a minute and a half, store 1,000,000 books according to the color of the binding and the texture of the paper, send a book from Indiana to Iceland in under 6 hours, but the reality is that no one seems to be able to tie their own shoelaces. High tech, integrated, blah, blah, blah…while totally incapable of using and evaluating thought forms (i.e. assess and consider situations using common sense). This confirms the axiom that no matter how pretty and slick the car, if the driver is asleep it’s going to hit the wall.
Bookbusters corporate strategy of focusing primarily on the variety of charges they could get away billing customers might have worked during boom times, now this lack of commitment to intelligent service could mean your books are stacked up somewhere in their warehouse, while the courts are considering Chapter 11 or bankruptcy. If my experience is any indication of the lack of respect and dedication required to facilitate distribution of a book, your relationship to do business with them is more than likely to mean a bumpy, frustrating ride. Look behind the brochures and your will find a lightening- fast accounting department (billing), preset and fixed supervisors, and a comatose bevy of reps. Contemplate this and you are likely to sleep a lot better. Stop, while you can.
